Hi teachers and students,

I am Jared Koh from Sec 2C.

This scenario is told with all due respects to all gentlemen.

Recently, I was waiting at the bus stop and the bus arrived. Getting
up, I prepared to board.

At that moment, a Nanyang girl (Sec 3 this year) happened to arrive.

Both of us paused at the entrance as we both reached there at about
the same time.

I ushered her in with my hand signal and she obliged.

Just then, there were two students (maybe Sec 2 or 3) queuing up
behind me. They exclaimed between themselves ‘Wah!’.

Seeing such actions, I am disappointed. As Hwa Chong students, trained
to be gentlemen, these little acts should not be seen as awkward.

Furthermore, the school strongly encourages us to serve the ladies.
Hwa Chong even goes to the extent of calling us ‘gentlemen’, unlike
NYGH which still address them as ‘girls’.

I always thought that Hwa Chong is a school that is brimming with
gentlemen, but today I am duly disappointed.

Here are some suggestions that I think of:

- Start practicing to be a gentleman at home, like waiting on our
mothers and sisters before meals.

- We can also practice while in school, like holding the door for our
teachers before they enter our class.

- For ‘braver’ gentlemen, you can allow all girls to board the bus
then you follow, even though you may not find a seat by then.

As you can see, I do not support PCME lessons as it only touches our
surfaces, not our hearts. So, my suggestions are to strike right into
the core of our ‘gentlemanliness’.

Just a charge for all of you- Unlock your ‘gentlemanliness’. You do
not  stop being a gentleman just because your friend is standing next
to you and may laugh at you.

I hope to see a more ‘gentleman’ Hwa Chong Institution.

Well I really got to say not even a 1.0 msg will make me leave 3o2 at all. We pwn, we own, we rock. Simple as that. I know my friends which went to CSE are good, or at least some of them are, but CSE really sucks in my opinion. Firstly, no teachers, no point going to school. Secondly, VERY INDEPENDANT LEARNING, = not as much homework, everything you must find out yourself, and i’m a lazy bum. Number 3, this is the guinea pig batch, anything goes wrong and “we wish you a merry christmas”

Well there is the biggest 3 reasons. Well I still have 10 more. But if i list them I’ll sound like some bloody sour grape who couldn’t get into CSE. Well I could! In fact I’m in non- cse sp as i think thats much better for me. Why don’t hci have non cse hp? I like everything in CSE except for the lack of teachers, the uber independance and the lack of classrooms and the lesser amount of homework GIVEN. Not those that you gotta find yourself. And sadly, thats whats differenciates CSE from non- CSEers. So :/

Anyway all the best to my classmates and friends from both non cse and cse. Have fun. xD

I love the start of school. Finally just one more year to long pants. I’ve been mugging the past 5 days * gasp* so i didn’t have any time to post – crappy excuse. Hm, so we were playing basketball one fine morning. When here comes some punkish International school students. Those people really are blind. They wanted to have a 5 v 5 match and guess what, they picked 4 of us from the hci bball team plus me. Gosh, and I doubt they played basketball before. Result, something looking suspiciously like a trashing of the internationals in which we had fun passing the ball around. Thanks and I won the most “suan” award XD. Sorry I just can’t resist the urge to suan those people xD.

Okay, so how on earth did i end up here blogging again. Hmm lets guess why. Puts on an innocent face.

Yesterday I was awake till 12am. Actually I didn’t know it was 12 am till some bozos who never seen one year past before started screaming and blowing their horns and pipes. Yeah I mean it, horns and pipes. I never knew we had an entire woodwind section in woodlands neighborhood before. Luckily I didn’t hear any timpani or bass drums. I don’t exactly consider them as a bedtime lullaby. Yeah my dad asked me if I wanted to go for the countdown party but I really didn’t see the point. Homo sapiens getting themselves high at the middle of the night just because its 2008. In my opinion, just another excuse to party in a foam bath. The end of a new year signifies more problems, more fun, more joy, and to be frank, more worries. I spent the night wondering what secondary three would be like, and that I just wasted one more year of my life. Oh yeah, but I prefer being optimistic, haha so I’ll just say that I’m anticipating with much joy, the starting of school tommorow.

By the way I prefer wordpress much more than blogger. It must be the novelty of a new blog then. Haha.

Day 1

I remember on the bus to changi airport, how fast 10 days would past. We arrived at Shenzhen International Airport at 12am, and checked into the railroad station hotel, since that was the closest hotel available near Luohu station. Since it was midnight, we couldn’t do anything except watch TV till 1am then sleep.

Day 2

We went to Lao Jie to shop, my goodness China sells its goods at incredibly low rates, converting even me, a die-hard non shopper into a fervent shopper… IN CHINA. I can’t remember what I bought, lol something around jackets, shirts, jerseys, longsleeves, and pants. Every single shirt they sold in china had long sleeves, catering for the winter, so we couldn’t buy many since Singapore’s temperature is far from being Air-Con like. I like the food there too, they give lots of rice, and dishes come in generous helpings. And guess what, you won’t put on the weight since its cold there and you’ll automatically burn all off. Woohoo.

Day 3

We went somewhere for more shopping, guess what, i forgot where >.<

Day 4

From Luohu station, we just walked across the bridge and guess what, we’re in HONGKONG.  More shopping done there, and Hong Kong has many rich people. How do I know, I saw prada stores, and counted 4 Lamborghini in one street alone. Damn! they made the Mercedes look like Toyotas. I saw a few Ferrari  too. Cool

Day 5

We went to Shi Jie Zhi Chuang, took lots of pictures there, visited all the countries. It was damn cool, I climbed to the top of the Eiffel Towe, stood on the London bridge, and on the statue of Liberty and many more la, I can’t remember.

Day 6

We took the high speed train to Guangzhou, reached there at noon and checked in into the nearest hotel available, Lilac Suites, that hotel rocked, ours had 3 rooms, one for me and one for my parents and then one entertainment room, I spent lots of time watching TV. HAHA. More shopping done too.

Day 7

We went to the biggest bookshop in Guangzhou, and I feel very zibei cause I can’t fully comprehend all their chinese books. But I was laughing at their English ones cause those had the standard of our primary schools. Haha but I guess they’ll laugh at our chinese too.

Day 8

More shopping in Guangzhou, shopping for souvenirs and stuff like that

Day 9

Back to shenzhen, missed it too much, and we went Lao Jie again for more shopping

Day 10

Went to Dafang village, the art centre of the guangzhou area, it was omgoodness, every stall there only sold art, art and art. Not a single stall selling anything apart from art. So I had a hard time finding things to eat. Paint and canvas aren’t my exact  idea of a fulfilling lunch, we went back to dongmen and unwisely tried walking back, which succeeded, but took 2 hours.

Day 11

Sobs, back to singapore. Home sweet home. So there, I finally blogged about this. Yay.

Ultimately, I took less than 300 pictures I think.

And China has a lot of pretty girls

Schools starting again! Actually, while all my classmates and friends are in a state of mourning, or in a state of suspension for this 3 days before school starts, I’m actually hoping for school to start. Its been boring at home. Anyway to sum up next year, I’ve got to work damn hard in term 1, and slog it out if I want to get humanities, and meanwhile I’ve still got to practice my yangqin for the double diplomas at the end of year, PLUS yangqin competition, and DOUBLE ACADEMIC UNITS for MATH. Oh my goodness, why MATH. And I haven’t even touched my math throughout the entire 3 months. Anyone surprised? I guess not xD.

Hong Kong, Shen Zhen and Guang Zhou rocks. I shall post why soon!
